About the event
Overview:
This course provides a practical, experience-driven approach to reviewing use-of-force incidents at the supervisory and command level. It is designed for those responsible for evaluating officer actions, assessing documentation, and determining whether force incidents are consistent with agency expectations, policy, and legal standards.
Rather than focusing on tactical decision-making in the moment, this course addresses what happens after the incident. How supervisors and command staff review force events, identify issues, and make informed, defensible decisions.
Participants will work through real-world scenarios and examples to understand how use-of-force incidents are assessed in practice, including report review, articulation, and the identification of performance concerns or policy violations. The course emphasizes consistency, clarity, and decision-making that can withstand internal review, arbitration, litigation, and public scrutiny.
