Aspirant Consulting Group continues to expand its fire services division and is proud to announce that Shayna Hurst will be joining the firm as a consultant. This addition reflects a continued investment in professionals who bring real-world experience and the ability to translate that experience into practical policy, effective training, and sustainable systems that agencies can actually implement.
Shayna brings more than a decade of public safety experience across law enforcement, data analytics, and risk management leadership within a nationally accredited fire department. She began her career as a police officer before transitioning into analytics and, ultimately, risk management, where she now leads accreditation and compliance efforts. Her background allows her to approach policy, training, and accreditation with a clear understanding of both operations and organizational expectations.
She currently serves as the Risk Management Officer for the Overland Park Fire Department in Overland Park, where she also serves as the Department Accreditation Manager. In that role, she chairs the Chief’s Commission on Standards, Compliance, and Accreditation and manages the department’s accreditation program in alignment with Center for Public Safety Excellence standards. She led the department through re-accreditation in 2023 and authored a comprehensive Standards of Cover document as part of that process. Her work has also included leading the department’s data analytics efforts, where she built GIS-based visualizations, operational dashboards, and performance tracking tools to support decision-making and organizational goals. In addition, she serves as Chair of the City’s Safety Council Committee and as the back-up Emergency Manager, contributing to broader municipal risk management and preparedness.
Shayna is nearing completion of her Doctor of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership at Liberty University. She holds a Master of Science in Analytics from Creighton University and a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Pittsburg State University. She is also a certified Incident Safety Officer, Traffic Incident Safety Management Trainer, and Peer Assessor, and is proficient in analytical tools including Power BI, Tableau, GIS, and Python.
At Aspirant, Shayna will support fire and EMS agencies in accreditation, policy development, and training, while also assisting with risk management and data-driven decision-making. She will be part of the firm’s growing fire services team and will help expand its ability to support agencies across multiple disciplines.
We continue to build a team of professionals who understand how agencies operate and can deliver solutions that work in the field. Shayna’s addition strengthens that approach, and we are excited about what this will bring to the agencies we serve.
