The Leadership Profile
Haverford seeks an accomplished police executive who will support employees, develop future leaders, and guide continued growth with sound judgment, humility, and purpose.

Use data to align staffing, deployment, specialty resources, overtime, and budgets while sustaining training, accreditation, policy, and regional readiness.
Build strong hiring, onboarding, retention, and leadership-development systems that prepare the department for turnover and preserve institutional knowledge.
Maintain credibility across nine wards, communicate with empathy and authority, and work constructively with the Township Manager and Board of Commissioners.
Diagnose before acting, distinguish what should change from what already works, and advance improvement at a deliberate, clearly communicated pace.
The Candidate

The Position
The department operates through a three-lieutenant command structure that includes four patrol platoons, investigations, special operations, and civilian support. Four K-9 teams and specialized capabilities support a broad range of modern public-safety responsibilities.
The chief reports to the Township Manager and is appointed by the Manager, subject to approval by a majority of the nine-member Board of Commissioners. Frequent evening meetings and public events are part of the role.
