Aspirant Consulting Group is expanding its training division in 2026 with a deliberate focus on multidisciplinary instruction designed to reflect the realities facing modern public safety agencies.
For years, Aspirant has supported public safety agencies and municipalities through consulting, accreditation, policy development, leadership assessment, and operational review. In 2026, the firm will apply that same practitioner-driven, credibility-first approach to trainin; building a faculty of instructors with diverse professional backgrounds, lived experience, and specialized expertise.
This expanded training model will support both in-person and on-demand instruction, offering agencies practical, defensible training grounded in real operational, leadership, and organizational challenges—not theory or generic content.
As part of this effort, Aspirant is pleased to announce that Matt Petrillo has joined the firm as an Instructor of Crisis and Strategic Communications.
Matt Petrillo is a public safety communications professional with more than a decade of experience in journalism and crisis messaging. He spent over ten years as a television news reporter, including with CBS News Philadelphia, covering breaking news, crime, public safety, and major incidents across the region. His newsroom experience gives him firsthand insight into how information is gathered, framed, and disseminated under intense time pressure and public scrutiny.
Matt currently serves as the Director of Communications for Temple University’s Department of Public Safety, where he leads strategic messaging related to campus safety, emergency response, and community trust. In this role, he works directly with public safety leadership during both routine operations and critical incidents to ensure communication is timely, accurate, and aligned with both operational realities and public expectations.
His instructional focus includes crisis communications, high-stakes public messaging, internal communication during critical incidents, and the long-term role of everyday communication, including social media, in shaping public trust before a crisis ever occurs. Matt’s approach emphasizes message discipline, organizational coordination, and credibility at moments when missteps can have lasting consequences.
By combining newsroom experience with public safety leadership support, Matt brings a perspective that is often missing from traditional public safety training. His work helps agency leaders understand not only what to say, but how, when, and why communication decisions shape public narratives, internal morale, and institutional trust.
